Another Franken! Intergalactic.

Hello! I wanted to say thank you to all my followers, I have a few more now which makes me very happy. I know I don't have very many but I appreciate every one of you. Every time I see a new one I get a little giddy lol. Kind of silly but it's nice to have people to share my interest with. And today I can use that, my hockey team has just completely failed the last couple games *sigh*. Darn Canucks need to get their crap together!

On to the polish, this wasn't what I planned to show you but I have to redo my nails still. I'd intended to do that yesterday but I was sidetracked so hopefully I may have that up later today.

Here is Intergalactic.

I made this franken the same time I made Cherry Pie, it's a mix of black and clear (to allow the glitter to show through) with a chunky blue/teal glitter from Winmax, a little bit of China Glaze Fairy Dust and a little fine blue glitter.

I love how the glitter shows through in the black, these jelly glitters are really cool I think. The glitter seems to distribute fairly evenly too. The mix of the fine blue and large blue/teal glitters combined with a little bit of holo sparkle from Fairy Dust makes this look like a clear night sky.

Franken Time! Cherry Pie and Vote For Me!!

For my second post of the day I wanted to plug myself as well as share what I think is an awesome franken! I entered a frankening contest over at More Nail Polish and voting is now open. I really enjoy frankening and I like the idea of having to be a bit creative to win a contest instead of just entering a giveaway, so this was super fun. There's some really amazing frankens so I highly recommend you check it out :)

I do have a franken I have yet to post but I wanted to make something new for this contest. (I actually made two polishes and I'll show you the other one sometime but this is the one I decided to enter) I am not a big red wearer, I always like it on other people but it's another one of those colors I'm not so fond of on myself. When I was thinking of ideas for this contest I got it in my head that I wanted a red jelly, but of course a plain red jelly would be too boring so I had to spice it up with some glitter. I am absolutely in love with how this turned out. I just reswatched it to get some sun pics intending to take it off and put on Zoya Edyta but honestly, I think I'll finish the manicure, it's awesome!

The jelly squishiness of this is amazing, it looks so juicy!

This is the picture I submitted for the contest, no sun and yes my nails were longer, but you can see the jelly and the glitter nicely :)

The ingredients for this are approximately 1/4 clear, 1/4 AC-NED-78 (a sheer peachy orange chunky prismatic glitter), 1/4 China Glaze Ravishing Dahling (vampy red), 1/8 AC-NED-09 (yellow jelly creme), 1/8 Cover Girl Boundless Color Crystal Mist (duo/multichrome glitter top coat) and 1/3 tsp fine blue glitter.

Majolica Majorca BL501

Good afternoon ladies! (afternoon for me anyways, good night or good morning to you!) I've actually got two posts today and I've decided to start with this one :)

Majolica Majorco is a Japanese makeup brand by Shiseido. I swear everything over here is by Shiseido lol. Not that I mind, I've found some awesome stuff from them :) The MM polishes come in super teeny bottles which makes them fairly expensive per ml. The bottles are ridiculously cute however, and some of the polishes are very interesting and worthwhile.

I picked up BL501 as it really stood out, it glowed under the flourescent lights of the store! It's a royal jelly blue with green shimmer and really quite pretty. The majority of the asian nail polish brands I've tried, whether expensive or not, have all had excellent application. Besides the tiny bottle and tiny brush this was no different, super easy to work with. I used 3 coats to reach opacity, I think you can see some vnl in these shots but I assure you it's not noticable to the naked eye.

Of course I'm sure you're wondering if it's a dupe to Orly's Royal Navy and since I do own that I figured I'd do a comparison for you. I think for most people these would be considered dupes, however for polish lovers there is a definite difference. Royal Navy has a slightly lighter blue base and slightly finer green shimmer. I think it's actually difficult to tell in my pictures so you can take my word for it :P

In these pictures I've got BL501 on index and ring, Royal Navy on middle and pinky. Also an appearance from my right hand. Btw, holding the camera steady while trying to take pics with my left hand is hard! Haha :P

Funny enough I wasn't much of a fan of Royal Navy when I bought it, I love it in the bottle but the shimmer never showed up on my nails and for some reason I'm not sure about that shade of blue on me. I've been storing it upside down as someone had recommended and I can definitely say that makes a difference in the amount of shimmer that shows on the nails. If I had to pick between the two here I think I lean towards RN, if only for the finer shimmer.

Hello! I feel like I talk about the weather a lot here but it does seem to affect my pictures so I will use that as an excuse :P We had some very interesting weather over the weekend, the island was hit by Typhoon Songda on saturday night. We ended up with a roughly 18 hour power outage at our house but thankfully no major damage. A lot of trees and debris all over the place though. The winds here hit probably over 100mph for a few hours, it was howling pretty good, the house was shaking, windows and doors rattling. Honestly, back home we would get storms that were very similar, we just didn't call them typhoons lol.

Anyways, I've been wearing Zoya's Harley for the last few days, a gorgeous light dove grey. It's a bit of a palette cleanser for me, I don't often wear neutrals though I do like them. I decided I had to have this one when I saw pictures of it specifically because of the hidden shimmer. It looks an awful lot like a creme unless you look close but the shimmer adds dimension to the polish and I like it a lot.

Now, in a weird twist of irony, I took pictures of this yesterday but when I put them on my comp I realized that it was too sunny and the color had been washed out. Yes, you heard me... it was too sunny. *sigh* There is something seriously wrong with that. At any rate, it resulted in me redoing my pictures today.

I had to throw this last picture in for a reason, I recommend you enlarge it. I realized today that apparently there is brown shimmer in this polish. I had thought it was a grey polish with silver shimmer when I saw pictures and that's why I ordered it. I had to redo my nails to swatch it for pictures (there were some nail mishaps previously) and what I thought was patchiness at two coats turned out to be... bits. It's not really shimmery because that implies shine or sparkle, but it's interesting. I think I like it :)

Franken Time! Rainforest Mist Holo

I was inspired by the sun the other day to put on a holo. Sadly we didn't have any sun for a few days after that, but I can't be too mad because it's BEAUTIFUL out there today! That's 2 gorgeous sunny days in 1 week! *sigh* Yes I'm easy to please. I'm also super happy because my hockey team is in the finals! First time in 17 years (I always say you have to be a true fan to love the Canucks), but they look amazing this year and I'm really hoping it's our year. Go Canucks!!

Anyways, this is a franken I made a few weeks ago. It's a dusty forest green. Maybe a little lighter than a forest green? I made a dusty purple at the same time and I love these both. I don't entirely remember what I used, I know I used a 100 yen store holo in either light or dark grey as the base. I think I added a couple drops of black then used a little Nubar Reclaim. I can't remember what other green I used though, maybe Orly's Enchanted Forest? Seems to me that's what it was.

I love how it turned out, I think I'd had something darker in mind when I started but I think this is really pretty so I left it like this. It makes me think of walks in Goldstream Park back home on a rainy day. The woods gets a rainy mist and it's incredibly beautiful. Vancouver Island has some of the most incredible old growth forests and it's something I do miss.

Anyways, on to the pictures! I hope you like this as much as I did :)

I love my camera (well, technically my husbands camera :P) because it does take great shots and despite how big it is I don't have problems stabilizing it so I don't often get blurry shots. However, it has a tendancy to wash out holos so I like to bust out the little camera too. I have a hard time not taking blurry shots with this one and the colors come out a bit off I think, but it definitely picks up the holo better.
