Avocado Sparkle

Hi again! I am way late posting this one but in my defense blogger ended up being down for a couple days it seemed as soon as I went to post. I don't know what that was about, my blogger talks to me in Japanese which I unfortunately do not read. Actually almost everything on the internet tries to talk to me in Japanese now that I'm over here, which is slightly frustrating at times. Oh well, no big deal :P

Anyways, Avocado Sparkle is an L.A Girls color I picked up a couple weeks ago which I kind of love. The name is very appropriate, it's definitely an avocado green with a subtle gold sparkle. Application was great, it's a little on the thin side so definitely needs 2 coats but it's very easy to work with. 

For some reason though I keep thinking this needs black glitter. I blame BB Couture, it seems to me that one of their many greens is like that. Maybe Kelly's Green? In swatch pics I've seen it doesn't look the same in color (think more BBC Caterpillar maybe) but every time I look at Avocado Sparkle I think it needs those black flecks.

One last thing, still no sun to be seen so these pics are either flash or no sun. We had a "tropical depression" near the end of the week which was building up for a few days and it's still grey and cloudy and rainy. At least it's a little cooler than it was before, though I really don't mind the heat so much :)

This is actually fairly color accurate if a little dark due to lack of sun.

Atlantis

Today I have an older, classic China Glaze, Atlantis. This is a seriously blingy polish which these pictures just don't show sadly, my eyeballs were freaking out when I put it on lol. Unfortunately, we still haven't had much sun though it's been humid as heck and I feel like I'm swimming when I walk outside, which makes this polish all the more appropriate right now :)

Atlantis is a gorgeous teal green jelly packed with silver and holo glitter. It is on the gritty side and is a bit of a top coat eater but in my opinion it's worth it! I did two coats over Milani's Neon Fresh Teal as the base is very sheer.

Revlon Not So Blueberry

Another day, another Revlon. Another smelly Revlon even. I must admit, this one smells like candy and I was maybe sniffing my nails a bit for the first day. Unfortunately for me the smell didn't last too long. Also unfortunately for me we haven't had sun in days so it was grey sky pictures or nothing. One of these days I may get around to building a light box for weeks like this.

Not So Blueberry is a fantastic icy blurple foil. Yes, shoot me now, I said blurple. Really though, it's both blue and purple so I can't pick just one to call it lol. And I call it a foil but it may just classify as metallic, I'm not sure. It looks foily to me so it's a foil :P

One last note before pictures, no this is not ridiculous tip wear, this is shrinkage courtesy of Poshe. Different top and base coats will react differently to people and this one does not like me. I've never experienced as much shrinkage with as many polishes as I have using Poshe so it's back to Seche Vite for me when this runs out. If I can get it anyways, otherwise I'll be hunting down something else lol.

I love how this picture makes this look duochrome, I promise it's not.

I must say, I'm once again unimpressed with the formula. I want to like Revlon polishes as they're easy for me to get, and they do have some nice colors lately, but the difficulty I've had with application on every one I've used is making me rethink purchasing more.

Franken Time! Irish Gold

The other day I was pulling out my franken supplies and my husband came in and said "Are you making a zombie?" Um, yes hun, a zombie :P He then decided that I needed to make "a green that's a little darker than your shirt with gold flecks and those flaky things from that other polish." That other polish being Hidden Treasure. So I gathered some polishes and here's what I came up with, it actually turned out really nice! You will have to excuse the pics a bit, there hasn't been a lot of sun around here the last few days.

I made him name it too :P

I know this looks horribly bumpy or gritty but the polish really wasn't. I'm not sure why it looks like that *sigh*

I think this one would really benefit with some sun to show off the gold glitter and flakies better. I started with a base of a random bright green dollar store polish, I added a little bit of China Glaze Jolly Holly to darken it up and a tiny bit of Revlon Beach to yellow it out. I also added some China Glaze 5 Golden Rings for some gold shimmer/glitter and of course some Hidden Treasure for the flakies! The only sad part is the flakies end up showing mostly gold in this polish instead of the different color flashes.

I'm really happy with how this turned out, this color screams spring to me :) I hope you enjoyed checking it out!

Buffy the Violet Slayer and Co.

Hello people! Once again it is obscenely late at night for me but I didn't want to keep putting this post off and forget about it. This will be a ridiculously picture heavy post but I swear it's worth it!! Wet n Wild's Buffy is a seriously amazing purple that leans very heavily blue. When you look at the bottle it's obviously purple but when I first applied it it looked like a mesmerizing, shiny, glowing royal blue under my living room lights. The majority of my pictures don't show how shiny this polish is so I am including some indoor shots that do.

One thing I will mention is the application was... messy. I think it's because of the "fast dry" formula but my bottle seemed to go on a little gloopy and was trying to dry as I applied, consequently I had to do a lot of cleanup. Next time I'll try thinning it a bit and see if that helps.

Anyways, on to the pics!

These next ones are indoors under artificial light but the color is more accurate.

I decided to spruce it up the next day with some Hannah Pinktana. I find HP too sheer on its own but as a topper it adds some gorgeous holo glitter!

And THEEEEEN, I got the urge to add flakies. I have never put Hidden Treasure over purple and I'm not sure why but I have never loved HT more than I did with this. If it wasn't for the horrid tipwear I had after a few days I wouldn't have changed it and even at that I was tempted to just redo it!

(please excuse the weird bit of glue goo on my middle finger, I don't know what it was from but I didn't notice it till after taking pics lol!)

This was truly one of my favorite combos and I'll definitely be adding Hidden Treasure to more purples! The only thing I think I should have done for a day was mattified it. Matte flakies are cool :P

I'm wondering now if there are other flaky combinations I should know about. Any reccommendations? I'd love to hear them!
